skua update

Hello to all,

The skua is now safe onshore in the harbour in trondheim. The wreck is being cleaned, and parts are taken care of. As u will see from the following pics, the main structure of wings is much more complete than those of the skua raised from the ofotenfjord some years ago.


Tail section also a good fundament for rebuilding while the rear hull is missing. Parts of cockpit-glasing fell off during the raising and lifting from barge to dry land.

Lots of corrosion on some parts, but also some weel preserved ones. Roundels on wings still clearly visibly, and many instruments well preserved too.

So far, no 100% identification has been possible. Yesterday, the individual letter A was found, and the first part of the serial no.: L28..

From part checked today, it seems most likely that the full serial no. is either L2896 or L2899. Readable on a wing-infolabel 12 38, probably produciton month.
