German formations at the battle at Tretten
My good friend and German Military Historian, Herr Oliver Eike, has kindly written this piece about the German forces involved in the fighting at Tretten. It appears "Group Pelengahr" was a well balanced "all arms" Brigade, the foreruner of what is known today as a Battle Group. 2 under strength British TA infantry battalions were no match for this professional unit.
It is of interest to note that German war diaries mention that the "severe resistance" put up by the British before being over run. 148 Brigade did its best.
Thanks very much Olli

German Torps did work better round Iceland, so the British supply vessel being sunk in more southern waters make some sense.
There were Destroyer torpedo attacks that were successful as an asides at Narvik.

, the Eidsvold was hit by three torpedoes from Z-21 “Wilhelm Heidkamp”. She quickley broke up into two pieces and sank and only six survivors could be rescued.
HMS Eskimo
1940.[2] On 12 April Eskimo was hit by a torpedo fired from German destroyer Z2 Georg Thiele. The explosion caused severe damage, blowing off Eskimo's bow
