First Norwegians in the (later) Frw. legion Norwegen

Thought I should share some pictures I found on an auction. The seller did not know what it was, neither did any buyers as I was the only bidder. The photographer was a kriegsmarine saylor serving on a freighter. He took 20-25 pictures of the Norwegians on their way to Germany to be trained by the Waffen-SS. The purpose of this unit was to fight alongside the Finns in Finland, but they were put in service, against their will, at the Leningrad Front.
This unit called themselves "Den Norske Legion", but was renamed "Frw. legion Norwegen", the norwegian flags on their sleeves (Visible on the pictures enclosed) had to be removed. Many of these frontfighters claim to this day that they never were a part of Waffen-SS. Hope you enjoy the pictures.
