Ove Voldsrud - Norwegian Soldier Empty Ove Voldsrud - Norwegian Soldier

It is with great sadness that it has been announced on April 16th that Mr Ove Voldsrud, a Norwegian soldier from 1940, has passed away. Mr Voldsrud was initially a neutrality guard and was called into action following the German invasion of April 1940. Mr Voldsrud, along with 29 others, took part in the gold transport (gulltransporten) and safely transported Norway's gold bullion away from the Germans and into the hands of the Royal Navy, whereby it was taken back to the UK and then, later, on to Canada and America.

The actions of these brave men cannot be quantified easily, but their legacy is clear for all to see.

One of Norway's finest has now taken his rest.
