FW 200 Condoe crash 1944

Some years ago I saw an article about a FW 200 Condor crash with 40+ passengers involved. The plane came from Finland with
nurses etc. onboard. The wing broke and the plane crashed in Tjeldsundet?
Until the planecrash on Svalbard some years ago it was the planecrash with most victims involved in Norway to date.
I have been unable to locate any article about this on internet.
Does anyone have any information or URL?

I don't know if this topic is still being discussed, as the last post dates back to 2011, but anyhow: I would like to add some information.

My grandfather was on board of this plane. His name is "Benicke", but he is being misspelled in this list as "Bömike". His date of birth is also wrong, he was born on 31.12., not on 28.09., as stated here. The date of birth, that is given here, is the exact same date of birth as of Mrs. Siegler, you find her further down the list.

All this misspelling and mixing up of the right date of birth led to the point where my grandmother, when trying to find the grave of her husband, wasn't able to locate it. Furthermore, apparently the cemetary had been rebuilt in the 1950s, so the exact location of the grave, that was mentioned in a letter once sent to her, wasn't existing any more. My grandmother never got the chance to visit her husband's grave until she died.

My father grew up without his dad, never having had the chance to get acquainted to him, as his father died when he was only 1 year old. He visited Norway twice, so did my brother, but the grave was never found.

Half a year ago I read an article about another famous Condor crash in Norway, that was the one they tried to pull up in order to restore it for the "Technikmuseum" in Berlin, but then it sadly broke into pieces. I got into contact with the author of the article, who passed me on to a Norwegian, whos mother observed the crash of this other Condor when she was still a child, and passed the story on to him. When he grew up, he had been diving at many of those wrecks, including the wreck of my grandfather.

This fellow Norwegian made a lot of efforts to find out more about the grave, and finally got into contact with people working at the cemetary. Today he sent a foto of the grave of my grandfather. The final footprint of him, after almost 75 years of uncertainty.

You cannot believe what this ment to me and how much I am thankful to have found this incredibly helpful person. We look back on a devastating war with the German nation bringing terror, agony and loss to the whole world, even to their own country, men, women, children and families. 75 years later borders don't mean anything anymore, when it comes to friendship and helpfulness.

I do hope so much, that those remaining Germans, who glorify WWII and Hitler still today, will come to their minds and recognize, how war and being aggressive is never a solution to any problem, while friendship and helpfulness is.

To bring the story to an end: The "Technikmuseum Berlin" will try to pass on a small piece of the Condor to me. My father - now 75 years old - yet does not know about this whole story. I am going to prepare a special Christmas present for him, including the whole documentation of the search, a foto of his father's grave and - if I'm lucky - a small piece of the Condor.

I deeply remain in the dept of this Norwegian man, I will never forget what he did for me and my family. In the end this will be one of the stories that I will pass on to my three children.

To my knowledge the plane crashed into Lavangenfjord, not Tjeldsund. The eyewitnesses described a wing braking apart, but this might be doubtful, as other reports talk about the tail braking of. The plane was heavily loaded with 40+ persons, and apparently a fisherman found parts of the tail far away from where the rest of the wreck has been found.
