"Kampen om Thamshavnbanen" is scheduled to be premiered on NRK 1 on 31 of August at 22:00 (21:00 UK time) in the evening.

Congrtatulations to Christian Falch and his team from Gammaglimt AS who originally filmed and released this story a year or so back. The story focuses on the Orkla Mines sabotage, the involvement of the Deinboll family (including Peter Deinboll - who was later lost at sea along with Arne Gjestland and the crew of Stirling LJ993 from 138 Sqaudron. The air op was known as Operation Crupper 11.Please see http://www.roll-of-honour.com/Bedfordshire/TempsfordAircrewLost1944.html for further details.) and Nazi collaboration of the Mine's owners. The film is very thought provoking and when initially shown - in the mine itself - the film was very popular and the crowds were such that some had to be turned away due to lack of space: Gammaglimt subsequently produced an excellent DVD and book on the subject, which was 5 years in the making of.

Finally, to obtain a prime time slot on NRK is a massive compliment to Christian and his team, but also richly deserved. I am already looking forward to his next production on the controversial character known as 'Gulosten - the Yellow Cheese.

I wiill reveal some ignorance on the subject here, but wasn't one of the saboteurs a son to the owner of the mine?
Or was that some other mine in Norway??

"Kampen om Thamshavnbanen" on NRK Empty Deinboll

Hi Tom,

Peter Deinboll was a Norwegian officer attached to SOE. Take a look at the link which provides an over-view of one of Norway's greatest soldiers:

http://www.pergjendem.com/?p=319

He was exceptionally well thought of by the British and in particular by Colonel Wilson; the loss of Deinboll was a great blow to SOE.

If you contact Gammaglimt I am sure they will be able to send you the DVD. There is also a supporting book on the subject.

His personal file is open and it's: HS 9/413/5.

Mvh

There is one book written by another female, Gerd Hurum Vold "En kvinne ved navn Truls".
This book is unique because it gives a glimpse of resistance work in Norway, Stockholm and London. She worked at all places. And after the war she was involved in the Kon Tiki expedition. There are lots of very good photos in the book, I think she knew Deinboll too, thought I recognized the ohoto.
It gave me more knowledge about the Norwegians in Stockholm and London. But - as all Norwegian books it costs a fortune!!!

Why do you have to charge double or triple prices, compared with Sweden and Britain. And the postage is tremendous too!
Actually, if you ever by a Norwegian book, go through Adlibris in Sweden, and the postage wiill be a fifth (at least in Sweden)
