Operation Goldfinch Empty Operation Goldfinch

Post  Bob Pearson Fri 16 Sep 2011 - 19:27

As some of you know I have been tracking some Norwegian assassins of late...not literally of course, but their antics during WW2. One name keeps coming up - Jan Allan. I have his personal file, but of course it has been heavily weeded by UK authorities. Does anyone have any details on Jan Allan with regards his roles? I know he was in Op Bittern 9which I am familiar with), but he was also assigned to Op Goldfinch - another set up with 4 assignments, one of which has been redacted in the files - in other words blacked out so one can read it.

If anyone has knowledge on Allan or his role with Goldfinch then I would appreciate their comments.

Thank in advance

Bob

Have you been in contact with this guy Bob:

He seems to have quite a lot of information, also about Allan.

Hei.
Jan Allan is listed as WO (or WTO) on all expeditions he partissipated. After Goldfinch he was in Stockholm for a while, until he was employed with the SOE/OSS Sepals operations for the rest of the war.

Bob: Mail you later

Jan Allan was my next door neighbour in Zimbabwe and I knew him quite well. Let me ask his family what they might know. I did happen to hear Joachim Ronnenburg talking at the SF Club in London last week about his long ski march in 1942 I think it was. He remembered Jan's name but I didn't push him for any details. Have you spoken to him?

Dear PROJ,

Many thanks for replying to this posting. Indeed I would be most appreciative of your help in asking his family. I am in the process of writing up a book that in part concerns Op Goldfinch and therefore any information that comes to light is always of immense interest.

I have never met Joachim Ronneberg, although I have read lots about him of course. I was in contact with a close relative of his at NRK, so will mail her again - thank you for the tip. BTW I'm quite envious of your listening to a lecture by the man himself!

Thanks again for your help.

Kind regards,

Bob
