I noted with inerest that during the retreat german tanks appeared & that a ww1 officer stood the bridge & started to fire at them with his srvice revolver ! This officer could have been my uncle capt j.f. hallam who was actually the transport officer . On the final withdawal there being no transport capt hallam reqisitioned local transport and organisd the trip back to the port of embarkation to take the survivors back to Britain . For this action he was awarded the MC ( the first one or the forresters in the 2nd ww ) any comments welcome Bill Freeman .
