SOE wireless capabilities from northern Norway? Empty SOE wireless capabilities from northern Norway?

Post  comcast Sun 26 May 2013 - 19:35

Hello everyone,

I assume SOE agents or resistance units had wireless sets to communicate with the SOE in England/Scotland.

Do any of you know how far their short wave wireless (radio) signals could travel from the area around Narvik?

From what I read about the small "Paraset" type of SOE sets, it seems that they could only send messages a short distance. Did they send them to submarines or ships instead of all the way to Scotland?

The frequencies of the sets was good for sending at night but not over very long distances and long antennas would be needed for good results.

Any information would be helpful.

Thanks, Jack in Fort Collins, Colorado USA
