Gulosten - aka Johannes S Andersen - NRK screening
Christian Falch and Frerik Horn Akselsen of Gammaglimt AS have filmed a superb documentary on 'Gulosten', otherwise known as Joahannes S Andersen, a controversial SOE agent and WWII assassin who became good friends with King Haakon. The film has been very well researched and features leading historians combined with documented evidence and some excellent archive footage of Gulosten. The documentary is being screened on NRK1 March 1st at 20:25.
Kind regards

Gulosten film - more questions than answers
Thanks Bob - the documentary raised a storm of newspaper articles, one historian against another, but left the actual status of Gulosten in limbo.
Was he a hero in Norway before his SOE period? Was he a dead weight on Bittern? Was he a friend of King Haakon? Why was he not charged with the murder of two German
captives in summer, 1945? We will probably never know, and in spite of the judicial principles involved, is all this really interesting today?

Many thanks for the post. It's interesting to read that the documentary raised questions and promoted debate. By chance, did anyone come forward with new information as a result?
He was certainly used by the British for his 'skills', but I was surprised that that they took him on board with such a controversial past. Whether he was friends with the King is hard to say, I don't suppose we will ever know the truth in full, but the overall story is fascinating.
BTW Strange that he should appear in the MTB film later on - that was something of a security risk, but perhaps SOE were unaware.
